This flexible on-the-farm program is designed to provide quality childcare for farm families. During the hours the caregivers are present, parents can concentrate on farm work during peak times without having their children in the workplace. Caregivers have knowledge of behaviour management, programming for children, farm and home safety, and basic infant care. The program operates from June to September (actual dates depend on availability of student placement grants)
The service is available throughout Durham Region. Maximum usage is 9 hours per day with a minimum of 4 hours. Childcare fees are based on the number of children. Fees charged are subsidized by Student Career Placement Grants and by community donations to make the program affordable for farm families.
