Executive Director – Durham Farm and Rural Family Resources
Durham Farm and Rural Family Resources (DFRFR), established in 1989, provides quality and flexible children’s services and programs to farm and rural families in Durham Region. We provide Ontario Early ON programs in Brock and Uxbridge Townships. All programs are free of charge to parents, grandparents and caregivers with children birth to six years. We also offer seasonal On Farm Childcare & Safety programs to farm families in Durham Region.
With the upcoming planned retirement of our Executive Director (ED), we are currently seeking an individual with strong communication skills and management experience to fill the position of Executive Director for our non-profit organization. This individual would be responsible for maintaining a professional working relationship with the many agencies that we partner with as well as building new ones for future growth. The ED is responsible to provide leadership for the organization as well as oversee day-to-day operations. The ED is accountable to the Board of Directors and is the liaison for the DFRFR to acquire services from providers such as the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, Ministry of Education, the Board(s) of Education and other community partners. The ED maintains a leading role in public relations and is actively engaged in inter-agency collaboration and community development. Other responsibilities include human resources management, actively participating in fundraising, advocacy work, program development and oversight, and ensuring optimal use of organization finances and resources.
As an ideal candidate, you will bring at least 5-10 years of organizational management experience working as a Director or equivalent. You have a Bachelor’s Degree, Teachers College, or working towards a Degree in a related field (ie. Psychology or Child Studies) and are registered with the College of ECE. You have strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to influence and lead. Prior experience in the Not-for-profit or charitable sector, and fundraising experience, and some knowledge of the farming community is also considered an asset. Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills are necessary.
